Autumnal Sewing Inspo

Lots of emails are popping into my inbox advertising all of the new autumn collections and I woke up this morning to a bright but chilly day. The children are back to school this week and I'm feeling inspired to start thinking about autumn sewing. Some of my current favourite pics are shown above and you can see that there is a definite colour theme running through them.

I've already made a top in this lovely chestnut / tumeric colour and I think it really suits me. I feel healthy when I put it on (I'm not sure if this is a weird thing to say - does anyone else feel this about certain clothes?!)

I really like the nipped in waist of the crisp white shirt - and this would be quite an easy hack for an existing shirt pattern. But I also love the idea of a victorian style blouse with high neck frill - and am wondering about the Nina Lee Bloomsbury Blouse or perhaps the Ikatee Ida blouse?

I am also on the lookout for some muscavado coloured corduroy (yes - I like to think of colours as food!) to make a skirt or maybe a jacket (the Grainline Studio Moss Skirt and / or the Merchant and Mills Ottoline Jacket).

There are definitely going to be some dungarees on the agenda this autumn either in denim or navy twill - and I'm thinking the Jenny Overalls from Closet Case Patterns. I've just made up the shorts version in and olive-brown colour and I love the fit. They are very 'land-girl' style and I'm hoping to do a pic of them if I get around to putting my hair in victory rolls! I love that vintage style.

What have you got in mind for autumn? Maybe you could bring a project along to the Sewing Retreat on 29th September and I can help you along? Places are still available - so do get in touch.

Happy Sewing!

Jo xx
